Plano Facts

Today, Plano is an international city with a strong high tech industry and robust corporate climate.

Plano Yesterday and Today
Few people know that the City of Plano began as a small farming community in the 1840's. Growth was slow and steady for the first 130 years, only 1500 people lived in Plano in 1940. But all that changed beginning in the 70's, and Plano has experienced three decades of rapid growth and improvement.

Today Plano is home to 250,000. The Plano School District operates 68 schools. The Plano Public Library holdings include nearly 700,000 books! And Plano Parks & Recreation offers more that 3,600 acres of parks, playgrounds and hike and bike trails. Source: Plano Economic Development Board.
